Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is in the news again due to the administration’s apathy. This time, it is because, for the first time in the history of the varsity, the entire central panel of the JNU Students’ Union – comprising the president, vice president, general secretary, and joint secretary – has been rusticated for resisting the installation of facial recognition technology (FRT) in the B.R. Ambedkar central library and for raising the legitimate demand to increase reading space in the library.
