While Student Union is in itself has been passing through its own kind of legitimation crises. The academic session 2025-26 started with VC Naima Khatoon’s attempt to project herself an Iron lady, has met with serious setbacks and lurking, questioning her sensitivity towards the students of AMU introducing detention and imposition of an unjust fee hike.
It shows her distance and an unawareness of both the student life in AMU and the socio economic background they are coming from. The human side of VC as a guardian to students has a lopsided with the executive position she enjoys, burgeoning a gulf that won’t be covered with the carrot and stick policy. The 15 day Dharna resulted in a promise of relaxation of Fee hike to 20 percent and resignation of Deputy Proctor and Assistant Proctors but it’s a long way to meet students demand as put by them….
