Mantra Chanting, Yoga: How 28K Students of NDMC Will Now Kick off Their Day Under New Curriculum

Twenty-eight thousand students across the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) schools will soon kickstart their days by chanting Sanskrit mantras and learning yoga. The students will also learn about Indian philosophies and traditional Guru–Shishya Parampara, all in natural surroundings, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The changes are part of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi,’ an educational initiative by the NDMC, which was launched by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at Talkatora Stadium on Thursday.

The changes aim “to integrate India’s timeless civilizational values and knowledge systems into the formal curriculum of the schools, and instill values of brotherhood, compassion, and respect,” according to officials….
