Maharashtra Government Orders All Schools to Sing Full Version of Vande Mataram

The Maharashtra government has made it mandatory for all schools in the state to sing the complete version of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’, starting October 31, 2025.

The move comes as part of the 150th anniversary celebration of the song’s composition by the late Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

Until now, schools traditionally sang only the first two stanzas of the song during events and assemblies. The new directive, issued by the state’s school education department, calls for all schools to include every stanza of the song as part of a week-long campaign that will run from October 31 to November 7, 2025….
