All India Forum for Right to Education (AIFRTE) Nation-Wide Campaign
1–7 February 2026 | All India Forum for Right to Education
Nation-wide Campaign for Equality, Social Justice & Federalism, and to stop Manuwadi, Communal, and Neoliberal Assault on Education
Friends,
Education in India is undergoing a deep and multifaceted crisis. It is increasingly shaped by commercialisation, excessive centralisation, communal interference, insecure employment of teachers, school mergers, curricular distortions (including distortions in history), and persistent caste and gender discrimination. Marginalised communities, including persons with disabilities and persons belonging to LGBTQ groups, and religious minorities are systematically excluded across regions. These problems are not accidental or isolated. They are interconnected outcomes of the convergence between neoliberal economic policies and authoritarian-communal ideology. Together, they erode the accessibility, quality, and democratic character of education. Addressing this crisis demands not fragmented interventions, but a broad and united movement involving students, teachers, workers, and democratic forces committed to defending education as a fundamental human right and a public good which upholds constitutional values and is aimed at building a humane society.
